How to hit a lower penetrating drive?

i use a ben hogan 9.5* loft with a stiff flex. i can usually hit it straight and sometimes it has a slight fade. however it is always way high up in the air, and gets no roll. i already tee it lower than most people do but i still hit rain-makers. anything i can do?

btw, i don't want to buy a new driver.|||Part of your problem IS that you tee it LOW - this forces you to swing from a steep descending angle. Also hitting a fade usually promotes a rising ball flight. Low penetrating drives are usually draws - hit from a high tee with a flat, shallow approach from inside the target line.

In addition, the shaft is more responsible for trajectory than the loft - I use a 7.5 driver that i hit medium to high trajectory - I have plated with other pros who use a 12 degree that never gets more than 20 feet off the ground.|||Listen to me on this one and try all of these options, or put them all together:

1) Tee the ball lower than normal so that you do not hit the ball so much on the upswing.

2) Move the ball back in your stance nearer your right foot, so that your hands are ahead of the clubhead: therefore delofting the shot.

3) Slow your downswing just a touch, as this takes spin off the golf ball, therefore producing a penetrating ball flight.

4) TRY A PUNCH SHOT: Make your normal swing, speed, and tempo, however just try to make a 3 quarter backswing, and then move the hands low to the left within the follow through: to a half finish position. Seriously, this really makes the ball shoot very low indeed!

5) Close the clubface by turning the face inwards, and then take your grip in order to remove your fade, and produce a low draw! MORE DISTANCE!!!!

If all else fails, then I would recommened getting a lower lofted driver (9 degrees or lower), an x stiff shaft, or just try a custom fit driver such as the taylormade R9, that can change your trajectory with a few adjustments!

HOPE THIS HELPS!!!|||dont move the ball to the middle of your stance, that's bad advice. line the ball up with your left heal, like your suppossed to. you may be too close to the ball. try stepping a few inches away from the ball. i would not buy a new club. 9.5 is low enough. if you try to hit anything lower you'l have a hard time keeping it straight.|||Well with a 9.5* loft i have no idea how you hit it way high up. Tee it as low as possible i guess. And i know you said you dont want to buy a new driver but that may be the only option. Get a 8.5* or 9*.

Good luck.|||You have to flatten your swing to hit it lower. Hitting a fade makes the ball go higher. Try a 3 quarter swing to hit the ball lower.|||Fergy, move the ball towards your left foot. This should allow the ball to be hit flat on the up curve swing. Try different ball locations until you find a low trajectory for it.

Spartawo...|||Tee it lower and move the ball position to more of the middle of your stance.
