As you walk down the fairway of life you must smell the roses, for you only get to play one round.?

what does Ben Hogan mean?

i dont fully understand it.|||You get to play only one round means you only have one life and there no do overs. Some people are so work oriented that they don't stop and enjoy the small pleasures of life (smell the roses). Work and making money are important, but you have to take time out for family, friends and fun. A lot of older people realize that while they were busy trying to make more money, working on or towards a career, trying to give their families a better life, that they missed a lot of things, like their kids first steps, first words, first dates, and so many other things. So take a few minutes out everyday, and smell the roses, so to speak.|||Well this looks like a true statement rather than a question. I think many people who are obsessed with work, or golf or anything involving stress, should listen to this advice and relax and enjoy family or life in general. I think the ads that promote consumerism and the 'hurry up' attitude are responsible for so many people who can't just enjoy Life. I hope people listen to your advice and just smile and relax every day!|||He means you only go through this old world one time so make the best of the one way trip.|||It means that you only have one life, so pay attention to all the beauty that crosses your path. This is your only chance, and it (beauty, love, roses, a good job, whatever "it" happens to be) may not come your way again. Enjoy each moment as if it were your last. You may not have another chance.

He is making the same sentiment using golf metaphors, "fairway" and "round".
