Best performance in a Major?

1953 U.S. Masters-Ben Hogan, 14 under 274, the most under par in a Major at the time.


1964 U.S. PGA-Bobby Nichols, 9 under 271, the lowest aggregate total in a Major at the time, beating Jack Nicklaus who shot a 64.


1965 U.S. Masters-Jack Nicklaus, 17 under 271 which included a round of 8 under par 64.


1975 U.S. Masters-Jack Nicklaus, 9 under 279 and opened with rounds of 68, 67 and held off Tom Weiskopf and Johnny Miller. And Miller was 13 under for the last 36 holes.


1976 U.S. Masters-Raymond Floyd, 17 under 271 and was 13 under after the first 36 holes.


1977 Open Championship-Tom Watson, 12 under 268, the second lowest aggregate total in this tournament. And beat Jack Nicklaus who shot 11 under 269.


1980 U.S. Open-Jack Nicklaus, 8 under 272, the low aggregate total in this tournament whch still stands today and also included a round of 7 under par 63. And beat Isoa Aoki who shot 6 under 274, the lowest losing aggregate score in a U.S. Open.


1984 U.S. PGA-Lee Trevino, 15 under 273.


1986 U.S. Masters-Jack Nicklaus, 9 under 279, the oldest winner of this tournament.


1990 Open Championship-Nick Faldo, 18 under 270.


1993 U.S. Open-Lee Janzen, 8 under 272, equalling the low aggregate total in this tournament.


1993 Open Championship-Greg Norman, 13 under 267, the low aggregate total in this tournament.


1997 U.S. Masters-Tiger Woods, 18 under 270, becoming the youngest winner and winning by 12 shots.

Not as impressive score wise, but it was the best golf tournament I've ever watched (I'm only 21) and I would consider it one of the best performances in a major by both men, showing great determination and mental focus.|||A tie between Tiger Woods 1997 at the Masters and Tiger Woods 2000 at Pebble Beach|||Got to be either the 1997 Masters or 2000 US Open - in both cases "lapping" (more than 10 shots) the field.
