What club did Ben Hogan hit, in the 1950 U.S. Open that will always be remebered?
Bantam Ben hit a 1 iron at Merion on the final hole to get into a playoff and eventually beat Sam Snead. It was particularly sweet considering the major accident that should have ended his career a couple of years earlier. That shot was immortalized in a picture that is considered one of the more famous in golf history see the links below.|||i iron @ Merion Golf Club PA|||Some people say 1 iron; some people say 2 iron, but he called it his best shot; most famous golf picture of him taken. I think club is in golf hall of fame at World Golf Village.|||I believe it was a 1-iron|||I'm pretty sure it was a 1-iron from 210 yds at Merion Golf Club
